Didnt get off to a great start!! Arrived to our fan bungalow-disgusting!! So with much objection (not), we dug deep into our pockets and got upgraded to a deluxe air-con room. The next morning we started early, met our diving instructor, Glen, and spent the morning back at school, in the classroom watching videos!!! After lunch it was time to learn to dive in the pool!! A little wierd at first, but we soon got used to it. The next day we went to put our new found skills to practice in the sea, just a shallow dive this time.
The next day was the Full Moon Party, so we spent most of the day sleeping on sun loungers, conserving our energy for a long night ahead!! After buying our own bucket, bottle of whiskey and body paint it was back to our room for pre-drinks and a bit of artwork (we tried)!! Full Moon was amazing. A beach full of people, buckets, glowsticks and body paint!!! We spent the evening with a couple we met at the hotel, one of whom got lost soon after we arrived, so we spent most of the night looking for him/standing in the same place!! Got back at 7am, went for a swim, waited for breakfast and went to bed, bucket still in hand!!!
After a day of much needed recovery, we attempted to go out on our last dives to complete our PADI course, the weather was against us though, with waves over 3m it was too dangerous to go out. Same story the next day. Third time lucky we finally got out to do our final 3 dives off Koh Tao. Visibility was poor (only 1-2m), but we saw a big fish thing that tried to suck onto my leg, and starfish. We were meant to dive on Sail Rock (a famous dive site), but at least we have all now passed and can go diving at better sites!!
We have booked the next part of our trip with the hotel we stayed at, so were now off to Krabi...
