Wow okay, I havent written for absolutely ages. Sorry everyone!! I'll do my best to recall all of the amazing times we had in the last few weeks.
We left Dublin, which we werent overly impressed with and headed to the lovely beautiful Brussels. When we got there it was a bit of a mission to find our hotel. We had a hotel in Brussels because we really struggled looking for a hostel, and it worked out to be cheaper to stay in a hotel from lastminute.com. The food in Brussels is amazing- it was beyond expectation. You wander around the city and the food is just everywhere- in every chocolate shop they will give you free samples and talk to you about it. I was more than willing to listen, as you can imagine. We also found this macaroon shop that the WORLDS BEST MACAROONS and I had one that was flavoured almond milk and it was probably the best thing I have ever eaten.
There are waffle men everywhere selling waffles for £1.50 which is an absolute bargain so we stocked up on those as well. People in the street were so lovely and friendly, and we struggled through with our very limited french once again. Luckily the only "C'elle Catastrophe" moment was when we first got there, and had to walk about 2km to the hotel with our backpacks on. I think I maybe had a little bit of a cry. It was such luxury though! We had a television!!A whole double bed to myself!! A bathroom! A toilet that I only had to share with one person!! I don't think I've ever been so spoiled (It seems even better now, as I am currently sitting in a place where I am sleeping with 7 other people). We went and bought a couple of bottles of nice wine, got some canned salmon, rice cakes, chilli sauce and spinach leaves and had ourselves a bit of a treat while we watched the simpsons on our very own television. Also enjoyed a subtitled The Holiday and Pay it Forward. Mum- that movie is still so bloody sad. Why do they have to kill off the kid at the end....
We visited stores that had 250 beers, there was also a bar like that but how do you make that sort of decision? I struggle enough at home when its like "Oh, what beer should I have?Carlton... or um... Ok! Cartlon it is!!" What I wouldnt give for a Carlton right now. There is so much Fosters over here, and everyone is like "Oh, you are Australian! Would you like a Fosters?"
Morons.
There is one thing I absolutely have to mention when talking about Brussels. It was the place where I lost my Durum Virginity. No- this isnt a dirty story. The Durum is the greatest food creation that I have almost lived on ever since. It is similar to a Souvlaki, or a Kebab, but about a thousand times better. They put chips inside it. They fill it up with sauces. That first taste was so unbelievably gorgeous and sexy that I knew my life would never be the same. No Durum has ever been as good as the first Durum, but you get that.
I also really enjoyed playing in the supermarkets in Belgium. This is a little ritual that Megan and I do every time we get to a new city. There are so many different foods, so much convenience, we are like children at a carnival. There was alot of chocolate. Chocolate everything. I had lots of chocolate mousse type tubs in Belgium, and for under £2 its a bargain.
I never ever wanted to leave Brussels. And as I am writing this, I kind of want to go back there right now....
