HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

I hope that everyone had a good new year, mine was a bit rubbish, but the two nights surrounding it were good so I'm not too bothered. In the time I've been away I'd forgotten how much I love this town although I now have the problem that I have no desire to leave again now that I'm back! I love walking down the street and seeing loads of people I know, not to mention the fact that I can get free drinks where I know the barstaff and avoid cover charges in places where I know the doormen!

I have, of course, made my own life and money situation a lot harder by coming here as it meant that I couldn't find any decent work before leaving Oz and I will probably have an even harder time getting three weeks of work in Melbourne when I get back there because I've been told that it will usually take that amount of time just to find work let alone do it! There is of course the fact that I've completely run out of money as well. It's fun being poor, at the moment other people in the hostel are donating food to me because I can't afford to shop for it (I now have some couscous, a potatoe and two tangerines). It's funny, I now wish that I'd got a visa for New Zealand instead of Oz, but as they say, hindsight is a wonderful thing!

I probably sound quite miserable in this update, it's only because I have to make a number of decisions in an attempt to save myself some money and it currently appears that all the choices I have are likely to be equally unsuccessful in this department. To anyone reading this who is considering travelling (Andy read carefully) I will give you a very valuable piece of advice: SAVE, SAVE, SAVE! you can never save enough and learn to manage your money before leaving the country or you might end up like me or one of the many people who are even worse off!

I've decided that the problem I have with work is that I'm not away for long enough to get anything half decent!
