Today was a pretty laid back day. We didn't have any concrete plans for the day but after a bit of Internet searching Shannon came up with a plan.
We started at the same bakery we have since we got to Osaka, haha, and then caught the train to Tennoji. From here we walked to s***ennoji Temple. There were a few different temple buildings as well as a five storey pagoda so we enjoyed strolling around and looking at the architecture and art. The internal walls of one building had Indian inspires artwork on it which was quite unusual. And we were even able to go inside and climb the five storey pagoda which was cool because we haven't been able to do that before.
After the temple we made our way back to the station and caught the train to Dontombori, the main shopping street that we've been to a few times. We had some ramen for lunch whilst we were there and then spent a bit of time shopping. I think our favourite shop of the day was Tokyu Hands which was a 8 storey store with lots of hobby things and stationery. We both picked up a few things there. I wouldn't mind going back there again actually.
We went back to the hostel after having some afternoon tea at Choco Cro and had a bit of a rest.
For dinner we went to CoCo Ichiban which Shannon was very happy about and then went back to Osaka station to see if we could see a movie. Unfortunately it was a bit too late by the time we got to the cinema and everything had already started. So we wondered around the large shopping complex surrounding the station.
We went into a few gaming arcades and Shannon tried to win a few things. He didn't have much luck until he tried this one cutting one where he won this figurine on his first try! The girl standing at the machine next to us was very impressed.
After a bit more wondering we went back to the hostel and got ready for bed. Not a very busy day but still enjoyable.
New Year's Eve tomorrow! We don't have any concrete plans but there is a soba and countdown party on at the hostel so we'll probably just hang around for that and there was talk of karaoke with some America people we made friends with who are also at the hostel so we'll see if that comes to fruition. Other than that, only a few days left in Japan. It had gone quickly once again but I'm glad we have part two of the holiday in Bali coming up; that will cushion the blow of leaving a bit.
