This morning we left Tokyo for our next stop of the trip, Nagoya. We had one last breakfast set at Sakura Hostel before making our way to the train. It was a bit of an effort to get to Tokyo Station and the shinkansens and there was quite a bit of walking through subway tunnels. We got onto the Shinkansen at 11am and it was a pleasant not quite 2 hour journey to Nagoya.
When we arrived in Nagoya we had to take the subway a few stops and then walk for about 10mins to get to the hostel. The street leading up to and also the general area around the hostel is not that flash. But the hostel itself, Nagoya Travellers Hostel, is actually quite new and nice. We have a room with bunk beds which is a bit of a shame but we'll manage.
After we dropped our bags off we decided to go find some lunch. At Shannon's request we had CoCo Ichi which is always tasty. I've taken to having a side salad with my curry as well which makes me feel a bit more healthy. Haha.
After lunch we strolled around the area to get to know Nagoya a bit better. We went through a Don Quiote shop, a multi level variety shop that sells pretty much everything you could ask for, and then went towards the Nagoya TV Tower.
It was getting a bit late but we decided to go up the top. It was a good decision because there was hardly anybody up there and there were great views of the city. It's a lot bigger than I thought it was going to be. We tried to get some jumping photos on the very top observation deck but they weren't too great because I kept missing the jump. Shannon did some great ones.
After the tower we walked across to this shopping centre type place called Oasis 21 and walked around the roof which was an oval shaped path with a water feature roof. Then we went down below and had a coffee and pastry at a place called Steiners. It wasn't a great coffee or pastry but it was good to sit down for half an hour or so.
After that we went back to the hostel and bummed around there for a while. We weren't particularly hungry so for dinner we ducked out to the closest Lawson and bought some small snacks.
We are about to watch an episode of Jessica Jones now and then call it a day. Tomorrow we are going to Nagoya Spaland to ride on some roller coasters. Should be fun!
