Hello...
Quick update...we have been here about a week and are having a great time. We've been up to a lot...had a few bumps in the road, but nothing that we havent laughed about. Best part tho, we still completely enjoy each others company.
After the small situation at the Mobile airport, we were off, and only one day late. But things worked out and we ended up arriving in Dublin, Ireland a day earlier! (thanks joe and maria) We did some touring...sleeping, a lot of sleeping, and then finished the first night at the Palace Bar...a lovely pub, having a nice conversation with a irish harley enthusiast. fun times. The next day was suprisingly sunny, a rare event in Ireland (we claim to have brought it with us). We spent most of the day walking around, enjoying cold, but sunny weather, and taking in the sights. We met Jarlath, Mary and Orna Daly for dinner at a Morrrocan/French Restaurant in the Heart of Temple Bar aka Bourbon Street. After a scroumptous post-dinner irish coffee, we headed out to take on Temple Bar for ourselves. Before we knew it, 4am was looking us in the face, and we hit the sack. Needless to say, we chose the later checkout then headed off the the Guiness Brewery. Steven has now been converted!! But, who couldnt love Guiness in Dulbin. We headed off to Celbridge that night for dinner at the Daly's house and then headed to a local pub. After enjoying a pint we headed back into Dublin to the Shamrocker's Hostel to sleep before we headed of to GLASGOW, SCOTLAND the next morning.
ADVICE: if you have never ridden a double-dcker bus, don't ride on the top...even if you have been in 12 ft. seas.
EXPLANATION: "the double decker is not suitable for the human body after drinking Guiness for 3 days" --Steven. if you need a further explanation, look in row 29 of the RyanAir Boeing 737 flying into glasgow.
Once in Glasgow, Fiona (a friend from scotland) met us at the train station and brought us back to her flat where we were staying. Steven and I took off around Glasgow and eventually ended up in Kelvingrove Park where steven had his first "playing in the snow" experience. I believe he was channeling Lloyd from Dumb and Dumber when he threw his first snowball....see pictures. We spent the night at Nice n Sleazys, a place to hear an awesome open mic night...the first song we heard was a bluezy song about Alabama....it was a nice touch.
The next morning, we left Glasgow and headed into the capitol city of Scotland, EDINBURGH. We checked into the Castle Rock Hostel and were pleasently surprised to find it at the base of the castle with an awesome view...from our beds even...see pictures. We headed straight for Arthur's Seat and spent the day hiking/climbing until we reached the peak and saw Edinburgh in a completely different way. It was so beautiful and the weather couldnt have been better....maybe a little warmer, but we are not complaining! Great Hostel by the way. Great people.
After a night in Edinburgh, we checked out. Steven has been dying to go to the land of Braveheart...FREEDOM!! we hung out in Sterling, Scotland all day, touring the castle the wallace monument and enjoying the small things like cobblestone roads and old school architecture, parts of the castle date back to the 1100's. The views from around the castle grounds were beautiful, and once again we were blessed with a beautiful, but frigid day.
We headed back into Glasgow, which is where we are now and are going to bed..We are heading to London tomorrow, so we hope to be sending more updates soon.
Dont forget to check out our new photo album...and keep in mind that somehow they got totaly out of order. oh yeah, and we totally love the message boards...they crack us up. Hope you all are well...LATER! cheers.
