Hey guys,
So it's 9:23 in the morning here on Friday.. 7:23 at home, so you would all be busy getting ready for your pumpin' Friday night out! So far Germany is amazing. Kathrin (my host Mum) makes the yummiest food! And shops mostly organic so it's so fresh and delicious. Here they have hot lunches and cold dinners most of the time. The bread here is so different to the bread at home, and it's easy to see why Germans are famous for their bread - it is DELICIOUS! I've also had a french baguette, some organic yoghurt, spaghetti, fish fingers, tried a bit of German sausage (haha) but so far it's pretty much the same as what you would have at home!
The kids are gorgeous, they are still brushing up on their English but we can communicate really well. Kathrin and Frank have been so helpful to me, I've so far had 2 German lessons - one vocabulary and one grammar! But my teacher doesn't speak a word of English and the 3 other girls in the class are far more advanced than I am. So I've been doing connect the dots and labelling pictures, which is fun! I'm learning new words each day and apparently my pronounciation is very good, thanks to my German speaking Grandparents. When the kids are in bed I speak a bit of German with my host parents as well.
So far I haven't seen a lot of Merzig - I went into Aldi and another supermarket, plus an organic shop. It's unbelievable how cheap everything is, especially alcohol! 2,89 euros for a 700mL bottle of vodka, which is about $3.50 for those of you playing along at home. I'm currently in the process of planning new years celebrations! Paris or Scotland, I'm gong to do an organised tour and hopefully meet a few new people.
Have been feeling pretty homesick, but it's good to be able to chat to people whenever I want, thanks for all the facetiming CALAN, there you go you got a mention haha.
Anyway I'm out, gonna go face another new day!
Love Kate
