Happiness Is The Road
Neither of us had slept very well as we were in a strange big bed and we were worried about our gorgeous little camper van being outside all on her own. We had brekky, but it didn't taste right, and then we went out to do the difficult job of selling the camper van back to Travellers Auto Barn. We didn't want to let our girl go and we felt sad. She was waiting for us looking a little forlorn and a bird had done a big **** down one of her side windows. Strangely, however, this made us feel a bit better as bird **** is supposed to be lucky. I think she understood why we had to let her go. We were all off on new and exciting adventures and the bird poo had blessed us all with good luck! We gave her a hug and then got in and I turned the ignition for the last time. She purred into action and we set off on the very short journey to Travellers Auto Barn which was only about one kilometre down the road. When we got there it was very busy and we waited for our turn to be seen whilst looking over to our camper van with love and affection, misty eyes and happy memories. She had given us the adventure of a lifetime and had looked after us really well. We looked at the huge map of Australia that they had on the wall and pointed to everywhere we had been. We had gone full circle and seen so much of this vast and wonderful country. This had been one hell of a giant road trip. We had driven 38,702 kilometres which translates to 24,048 miles! This is further than driving from Manchester to Perth and back to Manchester again! The distance from Manchester to Perth is 14,611 kilometres or 9,079 miles. We saw the manager, Ben, and did the paperwork. We talked about our adventures and how brilliant the camper had been and got the full buy back price. Travellers Autobarn have been excellent to deal with and I thoroughly recommend them. We gave our camper one final cuddle and then we emerged into the Perth sunshine with a cheque in our hands but a little sadness in our hearts. We then walked into the city and had a mooch around before buying some food from Woolworths and having a picnic in the park sat on the grass. We then had a photo shoot with some cute kangaroo statues. Even in statue form they are amazing animals. Following this we headed back to our apartment where we seemed to have been transported into cockney London. The guy in the apartment next door sounded like a cross between Alf Garnett and Delboy Trotter! He talked in a mental sounding series of hollers, shrieks, bellows and bawls which were quite vociferous in nature. He was a right noisy ******* who seemed incapable of shutting his north and south! We floated around our apartment for the rest of the day still feeling a little spaced out but nowhere near as bad as yesterday.
