Happiness Is The Road
Spent the bulk of today trying to track down my parcel from the UK with my sunglasses. It had been sent from the UK by DHL and had arrived in Perth on Sunday. It had been out for delivery yesterday by Australia Post and according to their website had been attempted at 17.12 and carded/taken to post office. I phoned DHL/Australia Post to find out where it had been taken, they didn't know and thus began a whole day of trying to find its whereabouts. They hadn't a clue as parcel had gone missing. To cut a long story short and so as not to bore you with all the detail the parcel didn't turn up today and nobody could tell me where it was or whether I'd ever see it. Do Boots have to send another pair?! Got quotes here for new glasses just in case and found out that they could send them down south to me when I start my travels as they would take 2 weeks to make up.
To take my mind off the glasses saga It was great that I was going out tonight with Alfie and Lisa, the lovely couple that I met on the plane from Singapore to Perth. They picked me up at 6.15 and we went to the Hyde Park Pub a short distance down the road in Northbridge. It was a really good modern pub and had a huge selection of Aussie and foreign beers. I went with a pint of Nail Ale first, a local one brewed in Perth which was pretty good and then a pint of Rogers Ale (which I just had to go for didn't I?!) This was a Little Creatures beer and a brownish ale and tasted similar to a pint of english bitter. Got some food as well, a really good rump steak an chips with garlic sauce, yummy! Alfie and Lisa were really easy to get on with and talk to and we just talked loads about Perth and their visits to the UK and music and beer and general aussie stuff. We agreed to go to the Hyde Park again in just under a years time when I've gone full circle back to Perth and have Jay with me. Got to bed feeling the warm fuzzies. Excellent evening after slightly stressful day.
Nite nite possums.
