Happiness Is The Road
The rain had stopped by the morning and it was a gorgeous day. After brekky we caught the bus and train combo into the city. We had a bit of a mooch around the city centre and then we caught another train to Fremantle. We had a look around the market hall and then we walked to the Little Creatures Brew Pub on the harbour front with the intention of having a beer and some lunch. When I had visited Little Creatures back in October it was lovely and chilled and I had enjoyed a relaxed but expensive pint of real ale. Today we were met with a vision of hell! It is school holidays at the moment and the kids had taken the place over. There were loads of the little creatures along with their big creature parents swarming all over the place and making a merry old racket. There were also clowns, sinister things, creeping around. Our plans for a nice relaxed pint had taken somewhat of a battering! We left hell behind and wandered back towards the market hall where the Sail & Anchor pub is located. This is another great real ale pub. The beer menu is massive and having scanned the menu I ordered a middy of IPA and a middy of the wonderfully named Cat's Shank. The beer was delicious and very tasty. It was the best beer we have had since being at the Lord Nelson is Sydney. After the beer and with a slight feeling of the warm fuzzies we went to find somewhere to eat. With hindsight we should have brought homemade butties with us as eating out when 'nil by mouth' on sugar is a minefield. It is fraught with difficulties as sugar is hidden in so many things it doesn't need to be in. We've decided that the best thing might be to not eat out again. After lunch we headed back to the train station and made our way back to the caravan park. We had tea and then snugged up for another cold night.
