A more sociable 8 am start today for our game drive. Lots of antelope and zebra on the go and then we came across the same lioness from yesterday stalking a kill.
Whilst watching her crawling closer to the zebra we were delighted to see two little cubs trailing behind. Then bam the mother was off with antelope and zebra scattering everywhere, she was unsuccessful as is apparently the case abut 65% of the time. She circled around looking for her cubs but we had seen the little chaps trot off in the other direction. Mum began a high pitched call for them and they returned about ten minutes later before skulking off into the bush.
Our game drive continued to a more secluded area of the park and we saw a couple of lion taking shelter under trees and then the real find was an elusive cheetah also basking under a tree.
We made our way out of the serrengetti towards the ngorongoro crater stopping at the famous oldvai gorge, where many perfectly preserved fossils of early man had been discovered.
On to the lodge which is incredible, set into the crater wall at 7600 feet there are perfect views into the crater from all rooms.
An incredible 4 course meal at our valentines table complete with petals and champagne which I tried to take credit for even tho it was all the lodge. Superb aussie Shiraz with steak and few beers for me ad vodka for LO around the fire and then off to bed.
