Fingers Crossed!!
Today is the last real day we have to organize our tour to Roarima as Po is running out of time. We have a company we would like to do tour with but unfortunately we haven't got atleast 4 of us yet so just incase we don't get a complete group we are also on standby for another group that already has 5 people (it is however a little more expensive). After breakfast I headed straight into the city to get some supplies - warm socks, raincoat and snacks - lots of snacks. I ended up walking around for hours looking for the best and cheapest things before deciding just to buy everything and get it out of the way quickly. On the way back to the hostel I ran into the our new Japanese friends and got the great news they wanted to join us and do the tour. So we headed down to see Roberto at Mystic tours and confirmed with him we would be doing 6 day tour starting tommorow with his company. Next thing we had to do was change money so we rang a trusted guy that Po had changed money with before and he came to the office to change money for all of us. The thing is with Venezuelan Bolivars is that the highest note is the equivalent to just over $1 and the common notes are worth 50 cents and 30 cents only so for $250 you get a was of cash. Claudio the money changer gave us a fairly average change rate but I new it was safer in the office and new we all had to pay tour now and so encouraged the others to just accept rate and change money. After 1 hour of counting and having Claudio's guards watch-out for possible thiefs and armed robbers we were done (money changers carry so much money they need friends with guns to accompany them to change currency). At 5:30pm we returned all returned to Roberto's office to have our pre-trip briefing which was very informative and had us all very excited for the next 6 days. I then headed into the city to get a few last things along with a big feed of chicken for dinner - just incase there's not too much meat on the hike.
OBSERVATIONS:
- Mystic Tour 6 Day Roarima trek booked - 5 of us - 3 Japanese, 1 Chinese and 1 Australian $220
