Oaxaca City!! Trying to make the most of my last morning at the beach; I was up early and off for a walk down the beach to Zicatela. The sun was out in force and the waves were perfect - I start to question why I am off to a hot, busy and probably polluted city today? I think the answer is to meet locals and know more of Mexico, I could certainly hangout at the beach for the next month but what would I achieve? As midday approached I packed the last of my things and said goodbye to all my new friends and promised to return after my few days in Oaxaca city. I took a collectivo into the centre, brought my van ticket for the 1:30pm departure and then raced off to the market to get some lunch. Always the indecisive type I spent the whole time running around unsure of what I wanted but as time ran out I settled on roast chicken with fried vegetables, onion, chilli, salsa and tortillas. I raced back to the bus company and got there just as everyone was boarding van. From the first moments the road was a nightmare with twists and turns and speed bumps every few kilometers and then imagine trying to make chicken tortillas in a crammed bus and being flung around everywhere. The bus journey was horrible to say the least: no space whatsoever, bumping my head on every speed bump, terrible driver and vomit inducing corners. After 7 hours we finally arrived In Oaxaca and after pleading with driver to drop me off outside of city he finally agreed. Thankful to be out of the van I gathered my bearings and took a taxi to my CS host Jesicas house. After getting lost a little I ended up at the right place and amazingly as I stepped out of the taxi there was Jesica waiting. Jesicas house is really small and unfortunately she didn't have a bed for me but kindly let me share her single bed. We had a little trouble conversing as Jesica only spoke a few words of english and in the end she spent the whole night chatting on Skype. Lets see what tommorow brings!!
