Back to Oaxaca! Up early and ready for the short trip back to Oaxaca city. Jessica and the Couchsurfers were slow getting up and I had to sit around a few hours and wait which made me question whether I want to keep couchsurfing through the rest of Mexico. When we arrived back in Oaxaca city I decided I would stay atleast 1 more day and went in search of a hostel. The first hostel I found was the cheapest in the city but with 12 people in a room and crap everywhere I really didn't want to stay there so I went looking for something else. I ended up finding a budget hotel for the same price and with my own shower and double bed. I decided to go for a wonder and ask about some tours and things to do in city and whilst walking around found myself at the huge Abastos Markets. The market was ginormous and I spent hours wondering around completely lost before coming to the resteraunt section. I passed through the Asado area (where they BBQ meats) and couldn't help myself and after chatting to one of the nice ladies working the BBQ went for some BBQ steak, chorizo and dried beef. The nice lady cooked it up right infront of me and for just $2 I got quarter of a kilo of BBQ meat of which I then brought a huge tortilla, salad, avocado and refried beans to accompany it. This style of BBQ Asado happens everywhere in Mexico and I can see why; the feast was delicious but the steak was a little chewy but all-in-all for about $3.50 it was a pretty good feed. I wondered around some more making the most of the sun and atmosphere before making my way back to the hotel to drink some local liquor - Mescal and watch a film. It's great having my own room again and even though I don't mind sharing it is nice to have my own space every now and again.
