After only a few short hours sleep I was up early doing my exercises looking out at a beautiful sunrise. I was hoping to hear from a girl in the city who was driving to Santa Marta today and had offered me a lift but unfortunately by 3pm I had heard nothing. I went for a walk and then Sierra and I sat down for lunch and wrote down each others travel ideas for our upcoming trips. I have only been here three days and I already feel very close to Sierra and I am sure it will be sad to say goodbye. At around 5:30pm Dan, Sierra and I headed out for an early dinner as Sierra had her students ball tonight and her and Dan needed to be there by 7pm. We went to a steakhouse where I tried this strange root vegetable by the name of Yuki so very tasty arepa and a very nicely cooked steak. We headed back I packed and they dressed - We said our goodbyes which I admit is never easy and that was that. I waited till about 9pm then made my way to the bus station - unfortunately when I arrived at station the lady was trying to explain to me the bus to the bus terminal was no longer running - s***, amazingly people kept coming up and trying to help me even with no English - I didn't worry for a second as I felt everyone there was trying to help me. A girl came up who spoke good English and asked if I needed help and explained the situation to me. I boarded the bus and very confused tried to work out the stop I needed to get off at, as I went to look at stop sign about 6 people signaled me to follow them - absolutely took my breath away all these people taking the time to help me and guide me - I can't explain the feeling this gives one but it is truly wonderful. A young guy come up and asked me to follow him and he would take me to bus, when we arrived it became apparent that bus had stopped running - no worries he explained we will catch a taxi, we waited for his friends and then grabbed a taxi / ever so kindly they took me all the way to the bus terminal and guided me where to go, I offered to pay for the taxi and they insisted no no no - we shook hands and they were off!! Genuine kindness is hard to find but here in Colombia the place is oozing of it and you can't help but feel warm and protected here. I walked around the bus station trying to find out prices and a bus when I met this lovely girl called Elenthra - she explained to me the cheapest bus or something along the lines and got her friend to sell me a ticket for about $25 about half of the advertised rate. She wanted a photo with me so Ofcourse I obliged, thanked her and then made my way to where the buses were departing from. As soon as I got on bus I popped a sleeping pill and within 10 minutes I was out cold.
