On The Move Again - 7 days in Salvador was enough and although I didn't get to visit all the beaches, islands and tourist attractions; I still feel I experienced a lot during my week visit. Spending time with Lara and her family was surely the highlight.
My flight to Recife was at 12pm so I woke early, packed my things, thanked Paulo and made my way to the bus stop around 8am. You never know if the bus will come or if google maps even has the buses and the routes correctly designated so I gave myself some extra just incase. The bus arrived on time and I was pleasantly suprised and luckily just as I boarded the heavy rains started again (it had been raining cats and dogs all night). I am getting used to airports and all the flights again and am thinking now flying is far better then long bus rides that seem to leave my body soar for days. I arrived very early at the airport, checked-in (which took quite a long time) and then made my way to the departure lounge hoping the Internet would work so I could kill some time. Unfortunately the Internet did not work so I tried to do some reading up on Venezuela and the Guianas my next travel destinations. The flight was very quick and very basic with no services or snacks (but was very cheap); soon we arrived to the very hot Recife. Once again baggage claim was super quick and within 10 minutes of disembarking I was at the tourist info with all my luggage. I got some info on Recife, found out what bus I need to take and discovered where I am staying is miles from the city. The bus came and took me all the way to Rachel (my new hosts place), I had a little trouble finding her apartment but by 3pm I had arrived. Rachel is great - a young Anerican girl teaching English here in Recife; we chatted out on her amazing balcony with views literally over the top of the ocean. Turns out Rachel has a busy schedule planned for us so I don't need to stress to much about finding things to do. Later I went for a wonder around the neighborhood and brought some fruit and vegetables and something for dinner. Rachel was out to a concert tonight but it didn't start until 1am so we had the whole evening to hang-out, do some yoga, watch a film and share a dinner. I feel really relaxed at Rachel's and her apartment is incredibly beautiful and spacious. I can tell we will become good friends as not only is Rachel incredibly easy-going but she has many interesting stories and a great energy about her. When Rachel headed off to her concert I watched another film was treating myself to my favorite Brazilian sweet - Pococa (like a sweet peanut butter candy).
OBSERVATIONS:
- Recife - very hot, large city all buildings right on waterfront
- Recife - famous for Sharks and attacks
