A few of Matilde's housemates came home very early and woke the whole house up and as I am in the living room i was at the centre of all the commotion. I decided I would probably return to Calafate today and try my luck at hitchiking their in the afternoon. After a brief chat with Hernan I went and said goodbye to Matilde, Josephina and Susy at their work and then made my way back to the house. After lunch and a few Yerba Mates with Hernan I thanked him for all his wonderful info about Argentina and for travelling with me for last two weeks and then started walking to the outskirts of town. It was very cold so I prayed someone would feel sorry for me and give me a lift 250km to Calafate. There was not a lot of traffic and after an hour I started to get a little worried that maybe I wouldn't get a lift but then as luck would have it a young guy in a delivery truck pulled over and offered to give me a lift. His name was Martin and he spoke no English so the perfect opportunity for me to practice my Spanish - he was a very cool dude and we could understand much of what was being said. The good thing was he had to be back in Calafate quickly so we flew the whole way there sitting on about 150km an hour - police don't mind speed limits here. I thanked Martin for the lift and then waited a few hours in the centre of town for my host Lucia to finish work. At around 7:30pm she came and picked me up and we walked 30 minutes out to her house on the outskirts of town. Lucia is a wonderful person with loads of energy and a really positive outlook on life, she lives with her sister who is also really nice and friendly. I decided I would make dinner for everyone tonight and as Lucia's sister is vegetarian I made a Soy mince curry with Vegetables. Sticking with tradition we are very late after lots of conversation, laughs, Yerba Mate, alcoholic beverage known as fernet and pickled egg plant on biscuits. Once again I have landed on my feet with two beautiful girls hosting me and sharing their homes and life's with me and tonight a real mattress, sheets and covers so I am sure I will sleep well.
