After about 5 hours of sleep we were all up at 10:30am eating and preparing for day 2 of Lollapalooza. The aim was to be at the Hippodrome by 3pm to see a band that Heli really likes. We were a lot better organized today and even managed to stop at the supermarket to buy supplies before getting the bus. As today is a public holiday there is far less traffic on the road but the bus was absolutely jam packed with people going to the festival. We arrived in just 1.5 hours and headed straight to the entrance. Today I had brought food, lollies and water all of which is not allowed but luckily the police when checking my bag allowed me to go through with everything. I made it through no problems but unfortunately Milena did not as she didn't have a ticket and just her wrist band. Here we go again another 1.5 hours begging to be let through and no luck - today they were not going to be so nice and let her through. As I was already in I could not exit or even talk with her to see what was going on and after a whole of not seeing her gave up and entered the festival. The problem now was I was all by myself as Heli had ran in hoping to catch the last part of her favorite band that were playing at 3pm. There were far more people today and walking in you could already see improvements from yesterday which included boarding to walk on in all the water drenched areas, maps and band agendas and more people with information. At 4pm I went to our agreed upon meeting point and luckily Heli was there waiting and 10 minutes later Beto arrived. Beto decided he wanted to go see different bands from us so we said our goodbyes and agreed to meet up later and keep checking to see if Milena had somehow been able to get in. Today's music was all rock and the lineup was full of old bands from my childhood like Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Sound Garden. After the first band my legs were killing me and I realized today was going to be a struggle after having all day yesterday on our feet jumping around. Luckily we had brought chocolate and sugary food; aswell as a few cans of diet coke to keep our energy levels up. The bands got better and better and we were able to sit and listen aswell as dance a bit when the bands turned it up a notch. I imagine there was over 100,000 people in the hippodrome and for the final set by Red Hot Chilli Peppers the whole crowd danced and sung along which sent shivers down the back of my spine. Heli and I were a bit better organized today and just as the last song was being played we headed for the exit. Unfortunately 50,000 other people had the same idea and we took to the streets with the masses- today we had a plan to walk about 4km to a bus stop that hopefully no festival goers would be at. After 45 minutes of walking we arrived at the stop and amazingly the bus came straight away and was empty - we could not believe our luck. By 2am we were home and so happy that tonight was much easier to get back; we made one of my famous omelettes, talked about the amazing day and then called it a night.
