Today Sonia had a few hours of class in the morning so I had organized to meet a friend in the city for some siteseeing. We had organized to meet at the Botanical gardens and as it was only 4-5kms from where I was staying I decided to walk. I found some very interesting shops selling health foods, oriental supplies and Islamic foods and couldn't help myself and brought some typical Argentinian sweets - Nucole - peanut butter sweet bar, Torun; hard caramel and nougat with nuts and paste of peanuts; Argentinas version of peanut butter. I arrived at the botanical gardens and waited for Erica but she never arrived, I walked around the park for an hour and a half hoping I would spot her but unfortunately we were both there wondering around looking for each other but didn't cross paths. It wasn't too bad though I got to enjoy the beautiful Botanical gardens and had a very interesting chat with an old local Poeteno that spends his days relaxing in the park. After waiting until 1pm I headed to another park down near the river for lunch; I had brought some boiled eggs, onion and avocado so I made myself some guacamole and sun baked for a while. I can't explain how nice the parks are here in Buenos Aures and everywhere I go there seems to be these beautiful parks so maybe I just wonder around seeing all the parks. The next stop was a statue park where these amazing welded artworks were being displayed, I wondered around for a bit and then headed to BAs icon monument the US flower. The Us flower is the huge metal flower over a small fountain that was a gift from the US government to Argentina - it was nice enough but not overly amazing!! I then made my way back into the centre and to look at a few shops - the sun was beating down and I was absolutely exhausted from all the walking and the heat so it was nice to shop a little. I found a really cool health food store where I picked up some raw chickpeas, soya flour and oatbran to try some new breakfast recipes out. I asked a nice lady for directions on how to get back to where I was staying and she gave me a map and perfect instructions. I picked up half a chicken on the way back so I could cook roast chicken and vegetables for dinner tonight. I am getting very used to eating later and later and seen as I only put the chicken on at about 9pm it was once again quite late when we ate but Sonia was very impressed with the meal as she usually only eats microwaved food. It was 1am by the time I was ready for bed and once again another great but exhausting day here in Buenos Aires.
