Travelling Millers
Day 66 and 67. Drove on over the Nullarbor and the Great Australian Bight came into view as the Eyre Highway wended its way along the coast. We passed by Eucla heading for Fowler's Bay on the Bight. We gobbled up our fruit as we passed into SA but no-one checked. This happened on day 68 at Ceduna. We stayed 2 nights at Fowler's Bay, a pretty town established in the 19th century originally by whalers and pastoralists. EJ Eyre used it as his starting point in crossing the Nullarbor. The town is a holiday place now, at the end of 30ks of dirt road. The van park is on the foreshore and Elle had a great time burning over the beach. It was however wet and squally at times, so it was nice to batten down in the van and read.
