Days Nine/Ten/Eleven/Twelve and Thirteen - Absolutely F All...ok so that's a lie, we did do some things, but more relaxation in comparison to our jam packed week of sightseeing.
Tuesday was the last day of our SeeSydney card so we went to Featherdale Wildlife Park, an interactive park about an hour out of Central Sydney. The highlight was walking through a kangaroo enclosure with 20/30 kangaroos hopping around sniffing your feet and looking around to see if you had any food, so cute! Also lots and lots of koalas, mainly sleeping in the shade in lots of funny positions, bird enclosures, kookaburras, reptiles and the biggest bloody croc we had ever seen in our lives! Made it to the later showing of Brideshead Revisited, all this free cinema is wicked! Was looking forward to our three days of hot sun and beaches only to wake to...
Cloud and rain - yes it was overcast Wednesday and Thursday, and rained on Friday. Always the way. God dammit, we may have well been in England.
Wednesday we did a spot of shopping in the morning, then caught the ferry over to Manly, a quaint seaside town north of the city centre. We only planned on a bit more shopping but when everything is so cheap how can you refuse a couple of dresses...and bits of make-up...and the weather was crap anyway so we couldn't do anything else really....Enjoyed fish and chips near to the beach, it was too cold to sit on the actual beach, then caught the ferry back to get ready for the beach party.
ooo the Beach party....:) well we got ready and when we got back to our room a new couple had arrived. so we got chatting and they were the nicest couple ever. got on really well with them but they were only staying one night!!!! so we had brought some wine and began to drink that...and due to them flying in the morning they sat and watched our games before finally giving in and joining in. Jen and Ryan were their names and we had such a good few hours just playing and generally getting more and more intoxicated. Finally we decided to go down to the club and wabbled our way down. danced for about an hour before thinking that it werent that great...so we left and went to get bread to make toast, only to find the kitchen is closed between 2and6 so our luck was out...so we decided to go down to the harbour, and lay by the water circle thing and play in it a bit before coming back and ringing each of our work places and using the only credit we had left. bum!
Thursday - Oh God. Feeling rough rough rough. (Sorry Mums if you're reading this but it's true) Our heads were telling us to be sick. But i wasn't. Luckily. We decided a fry up breakfast was best, so dragged our pitiful bodies up the road to Bona Frides where we enjoyed a full English Breakfast with Earl Grey Tea. Perfect. Until we discovered it was 1.30pm. Dammit. Alcohol eats away time like no tomorrow. Thought the cinema was a good plan - a dark room with just sitting. But we had the wrong timetable. So we lounged in the botanic gardens for a while, then dragged ourselves back to the hostel...then I don't actually remember what we did. Til can you? Erm then i think we were just boring and i sat reading for a while whilst you rang that poxy mastercard from sta and had a very long convo before getting rather angry that 20mins on the phone had eaten over $40 of credit. and then we wanted to get icecream but cudnt be bothered to move :)
Friday - Pissing it down with rain, lovely. After a big batch of washing we went to the indoor Paddy markets for a browse. Souvenirs and presents don't count as real shopping do they? Oh god, I sound like Rebecca out of the Shopaholic books...Vix i've got far to into them, bloody brilliant. Anyway so we got some real bargains and dodged the rain as far as we could to the bus stop to...the hostel just up the road. Lazy afternoon spent reading and packing, then to the cinema to see preview of Vicky Christina Barcelona. Entry to the screen was delayed, i remember seeing Australia outside the screen when we finally entered but just thought that was the previous film and they hadn't changed it. Showed an advert for the film we were about to watch...then...Australia started. Dammit. Turns out they had switched the screens the day before, so missed half an hour of the film we wanted to watch. Nevermind. Scoffed a luxury hot fudge sundae from Maccy Ds before heading back to the hostel to be lazy bums and just ring few people before bed :)
