Early day today, got picked up by Raging Thunder tour company who were bringing us on our 2/3 hour drive to the Tully River (Grade 4 river; on a scale to 6).
After a number of safety chats we got geared up and straight into the rafts - 6 of us plus the guide, Sully. The guides eased us into it slowly over the first half of the day, got thrown out a couple times; a Melbourne couple who were in the raft with us went overboard and the lady got a massive gash on her leg so it can be rough.
We pulled up halfway down river for an amazing BBQ lunch and drinks. When we were getting back into the rafts we spotted a load of snapping turtles on the banks which was a bonus.
Second leg: River got rougher and rockier, and we started really hitting the Grade 4 obsticals. I've got no problem admitting that there were some scary points especially one that I would liken to pushing a sideways mattress through a doorway and both ends squeezing together until one end pops through first and Nick and I were on that end!
We finished up and went to the Raging thunder bar to have a few tinnies before our long ass drive back to Cairns where we chilled in the evening, drank a bit more then went to bed.
