Hello All,
Saw some pretty call sites today. As with all tours you are meant to check in with them the day before but we forgot so weren't too sure they would come for us as they didn't know where we were staying. General pickup was for 08:20 so we set our alarm for 07:30 so we could try their office number; unfortunately we didn't wake up until 08:21 at which point we sprinted downstairs where someone else from the hostel was waiting for the tour (which luckily was late).
Met the guide called Coco, real name Syndney, big mofo from Aboriginal decent. He was really nice and knew so much local and scientific knowledge on the rainforests/habitats/animals/industries etc.
Total tour time was about 10 hours including about 8 stops and a fair bit of driving.
In total we saw 3 waterfalls/rapids (swum in 2 and went down the natural slide created by the eroded, smooth rock). The last massive waterfall was one of the most photographed falls in Aus, and has been used for Quantas & Timotei adverts and was the lagoon clip in Peter Andre's 'Mysterious Girl'. This fall was about a 30m swim into the lagoon, the force of the water coming down created a massive current underwater and intense wind on the top oddly - however, we eventually made it behind to the rock face and sat their for a bit.
We then moved on to see a massive volcanically made lake and had a dip in there - this was the warmest of all the sites and we got to see turtles and spitting fish.
On the way home we stopped to see a enormous 'Curtain' Vyne tree which I can't really describe other than it was vyney - you'll have to wait and see the pictures. Then our last stop was to see some Platypus but the little b*****s didn't come out or weren't really there.
That concludes the 21st, going to try and find some food now and I don't want to sit in the rec area anymore becuase some gimp boy is singing along to his laptop music and its embarrasing.
Love you all, Josh x
