So were off again on our jollies. Finished our time in Melbourne, earn't the dollar and now I'm running away to the coastline for another adventure. Not all good news, I'm also off to do my farm work in Lake Grace in Western Australia, few miles inland from Perth. I shall telll you more about Lake Grace once I'm there, as at the moment I'm not entirely sure what role exactly is.
So to finalise Melbourne, we arrived at the start of winter and leaving when it ends, didn't plan it that well. I guess it was the best way to keep my head down and just work non-stop to earn and save so that I can continue traveling Australia, hopefully, Fiji, New Zealand and South and Central America! I must say that I am most pleased to be finished working at the largest casino in the Southern Hemisphere. Good money, good hours if I wanted them but jheez they treated you as if you were dumb. The hired me due to my experience but yet I still doing all the skivvy jobs that I did when I was 16, not no more..I'm getting old. Gradually I was given better jobs once they got to know my capabilities. I think the main reason I didn't enjoy the job was I never had time for myself, all I did was work 8-10 hours 7 days a week. Although I did save plenty. However, my farming opportunity came up and I wanted to get it done so I can secure my second year visa. And so my last few weeks in Melbourne I tried to do some of the touristy stuff before we left, although I will likely return in the summer (UK winter). Went to St Kilda beach, south of Melbourne to see the penguins and sunset. Really nice area, more of a backpacker area. I most definitely will live there when I return, rather than living right in the CBD. Went to a local brewery and had a tour on how their local beer brewed and tried a fair few. I loved this banana flavoured one "Alana Banana".
I went out for a meal and drinks for my birthday which was cool. Although there were more girls there than boys, didn't go down well with the girl I was seeing at the time! She did however pay for my ticket to go to this trance night, she's a good egg! However, my birthday did run more smoothly than my friend james birthday, who came over to Melbourne from Adelaide. For his birthday we got turned away from 3 bars and clubs because of what we was wearing or too many boys in the club so they wouldn't allow us in.
Went for a very long rub around the Botanical gardens, just south of Melbourne. In St kilda we saw penguins, but could hardly see them because all the Asians were sticking the cameras in their faces.
Started packing my bag to leave Melbourne and I was having a mare, as per usual, I had way too much stuff. I had to throw a lot of clothes away as I simply couldn't fit it all in. I purchased extra weight but that wasn't even needed as I couldn't fit it in the bag anyways. All due to my parents sending me a package out and winter clothes that I purchased when I arrived. Although, I did give a box of my winter clothes to an Aussie chick who kindly said she would store it until I return.
I'm all new to this Uber malarky but I'm so impressed on how cheap they are here. It was cheaper to get an Uber to the airport than it was to get the bus. For the oldies: Uber is a taxi service and you request and pay for it through an App lol.
I gave my landlord some tips on how to improve his tenancy contract as it was so flawed. He even had the wrong address on for starters. Be nice one day when I can charge for that kind of advice.
Standing in the passport control at airport and some women tells me that I'm very good looking (yawn) and continues telling me that shes going to visit her mothers grave for the first time. And that she doesn't get on with her family blah blah blah...this conversation got deep in a hurry. The flight went fairly quick, but I was amazed at how we checked everything ourselves. It was all self service machines when weighing and checking in luggage. Finally arrived in Perth after a 4 hour journey and loosing 2 hours due to the time zones, crazy how big Australia is!
