Friday - We were picked up at 7:45 and taken to the ferry. Sailing across the sea to Fraser Island we saw dolphins and met our group of 12 girls. Arriving on the island in an industrial tank we prompting drove along the 75 mile long beach. We turned left up and down sand dunes eventually arriving at Lake Mackensie, a freshwater lake where we went for our first swim of many on the island. All around the lake was rainforest and warnings signs of Death by Dingo attacks. After lunch, where Natasha was almost eaten by the largest lizard we've ever seen and then lost her ham sandwich to a cuckoburra, we drove into the rainforest along the sandy tracks. We were dropped in the rainforest, armed with a stick and told vaguely where to walk. The tour guide eventually found us an hour and a half later. Dinner was welcome and one glass of cider sent us all to sleep.
Saturday - the best day do far. Up at 6:30 and we began to drive along the beach. The driver served to a stop just as a rickety plane was landing on the beach. Before Natasha knew what was happening we taking off from Fraser Island beach on a plane of 8. We spotted whales and took some truly glorious pictures of the sand dunes, desert and lakes from above. Next to Indian head where we scrambled up rocks and climbed the cliff face before looking down to see three circling sharks waiting for us to fall. Martin, our enthusiastic tour guide, took us to the champagne pools, an enclave in the beach where the waves fall over the rocks creating a hot spring. Lunch and then on Eli Creek where we swam down a creek full of eels. After that shock we stood next to a fisherman and helped him pull in his catch which turned out to be a medium sized shark! Releasing it was not fun! The tour guide dropped us at a jacuzzi, the perfect way to end the perfect day
Sunday - With only 5 girls remaining on the tour We had a small lie in - 7 am - we were driven to a tea tree lake which Natasha bathed in. We went to the beach and I found many shellfish. As I was collecting shellfish a dingo decided to quickly approach us. Myself and a new friend panicked and screamed for people to get on the bus unfortunately I couldn't work out how to close the door do the dingo quickly approached leaving the tour guide to shoo it off. Needless to say Natasha nearly cried. After that incident the tour guide let us walk to Lakd Woolaby, a 5 km walk across a desert. The day ended with crazy driving and pizza.
Three words to sum up: unbelievable, breathtaking and paradise (apart from dingos, lizards, spiders, snacks and sharks)

Dad Wow. And dangerous snacks as well!!! Crocodile sandwich? Did you see any snakes? Another best day ever. Really enjoyed reading this one, sounds like a film script. Indiana Jones was on TV last night but his adventure was a bit tame by your standards. Not sure what tested Tasha more - dingo attack, shark watch, dodgy plane, eel swim or lost ham sandwich. Are you writing this because she is still traumatised? Keep it up!! That's the spirit.
Natasha Johnson I'm alive, the cider tested me the most. Too many superb days. Indie! Junior!
Veronica No time to lie in Maria. Natasha, you need to eat quicker! Lovely to make new friends and see new places. What an experience. I think you will both be emigrating soon!!! Grandma and I will avail of the free holidays!!! Enjoy every minute.x
Grandad Some news from the UK. Heavy rain stopped play in the Third Test at Manchester today and the match was abandoned meaning that England retain the Ashes. Hurrah ! but I would advise you to keep quiet about it and certainly not to boast. The Aussies are accusing England of cheating-and we probably were by slowing down the over rate ! Very much enjoying the narrative of your exciting trip. Love Grandad
Graeme Swann england rules, aussie drools
Haider these pictures are unbelievable! so nice :)
