Tuesday - 12km. Walked along the beach stopping regularly to catch some rays and watch crazy fools skydive (yes Sarah, crazy.) We ate blueberry muffins and sipped and of diet coke as the heat threatened to overpower Maria. Mission Beach was a great place to swim and we thoroughly enjoyed the relaxing two days we had there.
Wednesday - Final Greyhound bus journey. Arrived in Cairns and headed straight for the shops. We walked along the Esplanade for around a mile before Maria pronounced herself too hot and refused to walk any further. We sat in a cafe where Maria cooled down with an ice coffee and where we admired the lagoon. That evening we walked around the night markets where I purchased a kangaroo leather Aussie hat. We also eyed up the 15 dollar Thai massage which we have decided to get after the tour to the great barrier reef on Saturday.
Friday - The Artherton Tablelands tour. 7am and we were greeted by Capt'n Matty who welcomed us with bear hugs and a banana. He drove us, and other people we had met on the Whitsunday sailing tour, into the heart of the tablelands. We explored numerous waterfalls and walked though rainforests throughout the day. For lunch Maria was thrilled to have chicken nuggets and chips, as I sat there as people suggested I looked 13. Highlight for Maria was when Capt'n Matty picked me up, threw me over his shoulder and dropped me in the middle of an ice cold waterfall. It was freezing. Beautiful, but freezing. Tomorrow we will have a relaxing day around the lagoon before our next 2 tours on Saturday and Sunday.

Veronica Well Phil, I got there first! Hi girls. Cant wait to see Tasha in her Aussie hat. Maybe its the hat thats bringing her eternal youthful qualities. Maria, there is nothing like nuggets and chips. Enjoy the great barrier reef on Saturday. That should be really special. PS It was El Guapo who quoted me the wrong Three Amigos names. Apologies.
Dad Glad to read the new update. Sounds another great day. We can now wear matching hats - can be the Aussie corner at the home of Super Chips. (Won 3-1 on Tuesday.) Atherton looked good in the brochure as well. Any dangerous wildlife? I bet you are pleased that the bus journeys are over now!
Grandad Much enjoying your blog. I also have an authentic Australian Kangeroo Leather Hat. On your return we can make up a trio ! Love Grandad
