Sorry! I haven't made an entry for a little while, too busy, too much fun!
I am in love with Sydney! There is so much to do and see here, I haven't really been doing all the tourist attractions, just exploring what life has to offer.
Me and Lauren love our new flat, it's very comfortable and has everything we need. We've both been very good and using the gym/pool regularly. Sometimes I even manage a session before work! And Lauren is getting the running bug, you have to be a runner here! We've already had friends over for a little dinner party, Lauren made her legendary lasagne and I made a tim tam cheesecake. It was ok but it may take me a while to get used to baking here. It's hard not to be disappointed as I'm finding that Sydney knows how to make cakes! Our lovely Thai housemates bring us weekly offerings as they work in bakeries, temptation town!
We have pretty much been spending our weekends trying out different places. There are loads of different neighbourhoods to visit, favourites so far are Surry Hills, Newtown and Glebe. I'm starting to learn where to go for nice wine bars, boutique shops or good markets. And there is a never ending supply of lovely places to eat ofcourse! We've made a great group of friends to hang out with (mostly travellers too) and I think we're all keen to stay living in Sydney for a while. Next weekend we've got tickets to Toronga zoo, I think it's time to do the tourist thing and actually see some Austalian animals. The weather forecast is very promising too, at the moment it's early spring and I'm still waiting for a bit of sunbathing action!
Work is very good for the moment. Lauren's got a job in the city and I've got ongoing work at a pre-school in North Sydney. It's well paid here and allowing us to taste the local vino and make a few fashion purchases here. There's a lot of lovely things in Sydney to spend your $$$! I'm finding the work ok, it's pretty tiring but I get along really well with my colleagues and the children aren't too much trouble:) Hope to get my teaching qualifications approved soon though as I'm hearing there's quite a demand.
Think that's all for now. I'm feeling super smug this evening, as I've just tried my first nike run around Sydney. It was pretty challenging but I got to run with a group and see the sights at night. Think I'm going to work on my pace and try to make it a regular thing.
Hope all is well at home, keep in touch!
Love xxx
