Good Friday
Travelled from Mysore to Bangalore - 3 hour trip that took forever .. stopped by a mosque as you do on Good Friday in India then a Palace ... all good motoring along to Bangalore - yes Call Centre Paradise ... hmm dark clouds in the distance ... few drops then lots .. the horrendous traffic jam - India style ... Going nowhere quickly .. water flooding the roads ... sari wearing girls with plastic bags on their heads ... traffic chaos ... seriously stuck .. the leisure hours in Bagalore evaporated as we watched the traffic move in inches ... only 18km to go ... we have to catch an overnight train and India Rail waits for no one - finally we move a little then a little more Jassa our cool and calm guide looked like he is hyperventilating on the inside when finally we made the station .. yikes he has to organize to feed us as well - we charge into a restaurant and dinner was served in a flash then we bolted to the train ... and left the luggage with the porter ... who got stuck with a train across the the tracks ... finally the the porters came running down the stairs with our bags on their heads ... The one carrying Sabines bag looked a bit shorter now lol!!! Then we jumped on the train just in time ... phew!! Cheers for Jassa!!!
Long night ... uncomfortable .. lovely Mikey snoring in my ear and the fear of a bag snatcher not far from my thoughts ...
Finally we arrived in Hospeth to the welcome site of a five star hotel complete with a pool!! Yes I'm in heaven!!
Saturday
Lolled around the pool .. discovered a jacuzzi mmnnn then asked the waiter for G&T ... poolside ... happy happy happy ... wonderful veg Thali overlooking the river at the Mango Tree restaurant!
Bit of shopping then back to the pool ... G&T's poolside then a great dinner where the head chef supervised our dining experience personally - ok the restaurant was empty when we first got there!!! Lol!! I love personal attention!!!
Easter Sunday
First time ever not a Easter egg or bunny in sight!!! Feels a bit weird!! Set off for a tour of the Hampi ruins .. apparently on the scale of Machu Picchu and Ankor Wat - which is probably true - they are amazing - but boy was it hot - I think it would have been 40'+ - and I don't do history that well at the best of times - it was to be an all day tour but the thought of the pool waiting for us at the hotel was too much and we cut it short having seen the best bits ... it's spread out over a large area. Not sure our hired guide was happy - I think he thought we didn't like it - we did - it was just the heat ...
Back for a swim ... India is taking it's toll on some with bad stomachs .., Sabbie is in trouble both ends ... poor thing and tomorrow we have an 8 hour train trip to Goa .. and the toilets on Indian Rail are definitely not a highlight!!!
