Day 3 we are to rise above the clouds to a small town by the name Ravello. This walk is a lot easier than yesterday on the way up, although it is steep it has level areas which allows for a little leg rest even though you are climbing. There is more scenery as we climb we travel through some farming land, lemons and tomatoes, corn, egg plant and other fruits are grown, the tomatoes have a flavour that is total different to any Shirley or I have tasted. Most of the way to our left is a babbling brook that break the silent of the walk with its constant song it sings as rolls over the rocks and drops in it. This would not been enjoyed yesterday because of the concentration just to stay up on your feet. Everyone will be happy to know Shirley was fantastic, she climb as if she had been into bush walking all her life. It took two and a half hrs to reach the top and all agreed this was hard but much more comfortable than yesterday. Reaching the top meant lunch so Marcello had arrange for us to stop at the Smeraldino a small but beautiful restaurant with view to die for, food was light but very very good.after lunch only half decide to take the 1000 steps home the rest took the option the bus. This next bit from Shirley.
Of course I didn't do the steps......enough is enough. The bus is an experience in itself...everyone scrunched in like sardines and down a very winding road for 7klms. It is very scary when two big buses meet on a corner on a road where really there is only enough room for one....and a Mexican stand off occurs until one of the buses backs up so the other one can get around. This is no easy task as behind the backing up bus is a line of cars who also have to back up.....and down the side of the road is a very, very steep drop. We saw one bus with its front wheels over the edge of the road and having to reverse off the corner...OMG. The kind of place never to do a hill start.Everyone really has such an easy manner. This would never happen in Australia. We made it safely after thirty mins and hit the bar for a prosecco.
