Today was my last day in Mexico City . Spent the morning with my tour group going to Xochimilco which is an area within Mexico City famous for it's canals and artificial Islands . We went on this colourful painted boat which took us down the canals . Drank some beer and got entertained by a mariachi . Our tour guide made us taste a local favourite beer called Victoria . Apparently Coronas are not popular with locals and they reckon it tastes like piss . So I'm guessing it's the equivalent of Fosters for Australians ?
The afternoon I spent mainly on my own exploring the Mueso Nacional de Anthropologia . It's quite a large display of pre hispanic pieces including Maya and Aztecs. Really good but if your jet lagged like me you might find yourself slowly deteriorating as you wander around .
Afterwards I met up with some people from my tour and went to dinner at what I ended up calling the Mexican version of a Denny's . Good service , s*** food !
There is a good mixture of people on my group . I'm the only Aussie but there is a guy from New Zealand who lives in Perth . We have people from the Netherlands, Italy , Germany , UK , Finland and USA.
Tomorrow we are going to Teotihuacan which is an ancient city with temples and pyramids . It's about 45 minutes from Mexico City . After we go to the Puebla .
