Ok so what's my first thoughts Of Mexico City ? .. Well it's stinks . I mean literally . Smog and stench fill the streets . Saying that I actually do like this city so far . Historical buildings are nestled within modern ones . And there are some funky neighbourhoods where people seem to just eat , drink and chill. People and cars are everywhere . It's Friday today and you'd think no one works here . I like the people so far they are friendly and most can speak good English or at least understand my s*** Spanish.
I started my day at the most touristy place in the city called the plaza de la constitucion. It's basically the cities main square with monuments , parliament and cathedrals nearby . Made a big mistake pulling out my map while here . Had some random local come up saying he would be my personal tour guide . He looked dodgy as .
I managed to jumped on a hop on hop off bus and at first I thought again made another big mistake as the traffic was insane but you eventually get moving . Based on one day of observation Mexicans drive like crazy people . There are no lines on the road so cars can drift in and out as they please . I guess it's like Asia .
The bus took me to a nice neighbourhood called Polanco . It's a high end place with boutique shops and houses . I sat down to my first authentic Mexican meal at a place called La Casa del Pastor . I forgot what I ordered is called but it was some kind of tortilla with meat and veg in it . And yes I also had my first Mexican beer as well. So far I have nil signs of any gastro coming on. I am really hoping the big ass gastro kit I purchased from the travel doc goes unused but apparently it's inevitable to get some kind of gastro bug while in South America . Looking forward to it good times ahead .
Jet lag was starting to hit so I just cruised the arvo on the bus again and ended up in an area called Zona Rosa which is a few blocks from where I'm staying . It's another lively place filled with bars , restaurants and night clubs. They had a big night market thing on as well which was quite cool to stroll through. After that I bought my dinner from seven eleven . Bag of chips and fruit juice . I'm spent will crash any minute now ....
