Both Claire and I woke up feeling pretty ill but we walked through Mirissa to the number 1 rotti place for breakfast. I couldn't stomach anything but watched the other enjoy some rotti. We then went back to our hostel to pack up our things before going on an adventure to find the secret beach. It was about 15 minute walk through the harbour but the secret beach didn't disappoint. It was a stunning small cove with sand. Only beach we had seen in ages with sand. The waves looked pretty wild so we didn't swim but just lay on the sand sleeping. After about an hour the clouds turned dark and it started to rain so we got a bit nervous a storm would hit so we began our walk back to our hostel. We had about 30 minutes hanging out at the hostel before a car came to drive us to Ella. The drive took about 4 hours of beautiful scenery. Unfortunately I was pretty wrecked so spent almost all the trip sleeping. We did stop off after 1.5 hours at a town called Tangalle. It was so sweet our driver bought us a ginger drink as he thought it would make our stomachs feel better. We arrived in Ella around 5pm stopping briefly to have a look at the Ravana waterfall. It was high up the guide told us around 50 people had died from swimming due to big gushes of water. We continued along the winding roads until we reached our accommodation. Lucky star. It had been recommended by numerous people for us to stay. It was right on top of the hill so we had a stunning view of our surroundings. The guest house was run by a very friendly and sweet family. We settled in and went straight to dinner to main town (5 minute Tuktuk). We went to chil. It was very western and modern with tourists galore in it. It was good to see English speaking travellers but also lost the beauty of being in Sri Lanka. We enjoyed pineapple lassies and I had fish and chips. It tasted good but I couldn't stomach much. We were exhausted so went to bed early.
