Early morning is a bit of an understatement for this morning for our day tour we got picked up at 3.30am. We took our pillows with us and we had a two and a half hour attempt of sleep in the car until we reached Udawalawe National Park. We transferred from van to a 4 wheel drive explorer car similar to a jeep. We drove along a dirt road in the park and we're lucky enough to spot so many animals.we saw so many elephants only a few metres away. We saw big elephants, baby elephants and elephants eating. We also saw stalks, water buffalo, peacocks, sea eagles, crocodiles and many more. After an hour or so we stopped driving via a Lagoon and ate breakfast it was super cute we had little breakfast packages with some fruit, toast cheese sandwich and a boiled egg. Was a good view watching the water buffalo. We then continued our drive and the loop taking us back to the entry of the park. We saw more of the same animals and a lot more birds. We got transferred to a restaurant at 9.30 am for 'lunch' it was strange as it was so early and we had just finished breakfast but as it was included in the price we are anyways. I got some chicken fried rice. After we are we drove back to the beach villa. We got back around 1.30pm and we were all pretty tired so spent some time napping and relaxing. At 4.30 pm we walked over to the garden villa for some mid season games to celebrate the Swedish holiday (longest day) this was so so much fun! We were divided into relay groups (4 groups). The first game was hilarious we had to put helmet and gloves on and you have a pen tied around waist. Have to spin 5 times and try and squat and get pen in coco cola bottle. After you do you run and have to cut a piece of chocolate with knife and fork and eat then run back then next persons turn. It was so funny to watch and it was so tricky to put pen in bottle without hands as it keeps moving. We then did a big egg and spoon race around the villa, followed by a balloon bursting competition then an egg and spoon race. Was great fun! We then back to beach villa to freshen up before going back to the garden villa for a big buffet dinner. We then played giant group drinking games before going out via tuk tuks to Happy Banana. Our surf instructors came out and partied with us. There were people from everywhere. Mainly men from Russia Sri Lanka and China. We danced as a big group. We then walked outside to the beach and hung out for a while. We took tuk tuks back to the villa. It was a late night but such a fun night!!
