Today was the first proper day of the surf camp and we were so excited so we woke up early. How amazing waking up in the villa with the ocean right in front. Claire Dion and I used the grass garden to do a circuit/ stretching session to wake up. We then ate breakfast at 8am. It was so delicious. We had boiled eggs, crepes with lemon and sugar , fruit, curd and pancakes with passion fruit jam. So much to eat. After breakfast we quickly got ready for surfing. We were given a board (our baby) which we had to look after for the week. It was so great tuktuks came and got us and the surfboards were strapped to the roof. We travelled around 15 minutes till we reached weligama where we were surfing as it is a sand break. We met our instructor who is a local. He was so lovely teaching us the basic technique. We went surfing for 2 hours. The water was so lovely so cold when we first went in but we surfed for two hours straight and we weren't cold at all. I did feel our surfing all improved as the morning went on as we were given so much feedback. We went back to the accommodation same as how we arrived. We had quick showers and a relax then caught a Tuktuk into Galle (25 minutes away) we checked out the old fort which has a small town built as apart of it with European style. We walked around fort enjoying views of the light house and the ocean. We were starving though so we found place for lunch. Boy did we have some laughs at lunch but it wasn't the best choice. We found a small Dutch cafe/ shop with the menu written in textas with hand drawn images saying home made food no microwaves. I think we wanted about 1.5 hours for our food and when it came out it wasn't as we expected. We walked around the fort afterwards enjoying the views until the clouds suddenly turned black and the torrential rain started with hail. People were running everywhere. We got so wet but it was so funny. We tuktuk back to the camp going via the fruit market and spice market. We relaxed a bit before dinner. We had soup followed by prawns and fish with rice. The food was amazing we are so lucky. Dessert was some ice cream. After dinner we walked over to the garden villa for a music quiz. It was good as we were mixed up with different people so we made new teams. We then spent the next hour or so just hanging out and chatting. Most people were from Sweden. Such a fun day- villa/ camp life is the life for me :)
