Apparently some things in Costa Rica just close on random days of the week. For example the national park is closed on a Monday. That was an overwhelming disappointment. So all dressed in our adventure outfits we decided to go on our own expedition. A day of jumping over creeks, finding tropical crabs and choosing the road less travelled kept us well entertained.
Then Tuesday we finally made it to Manuel Antonio national park...
British bartering came in handy when picking up a tour guide, and off we went. We saw white-faces and howler monkeys (ironically it was the white-faced making all the noise). The highlight was seeing the sloths, what we were most excited for. At the envy of us all they spend around 20hrs of the day sleeping and the rest eating. Nevertheless that's another thing ticked off the list, plus they were incredibly cute. Staying on the animal theme, we got raccooned! And by raccooned we mean literally raccooned.....
Picture this: sitting on a postcard perfect beach looking at the calm ocean after a fair old hike and tucking into a packet of crisp and water whilst having a chinwag. Sophie's holding the bag, next minute someone grabs them from behind, we jumped to our feet to see a racoon legging it with our crisps! Shocked and scared we had to laugh, what a cheeky thing! Then this stupid couple were feeding them, they left they're bags on the sand to go in the sea and the next minute a racoons trying to open their bag and the guy came screaming out of the ocean but the cheeky racoon didn't run until the last min because he was that daring, was funny to watch someone else being abused by the raccoons though...
