We had a beautiful bus ride up the coast and into San Jose, all the time getting our drivers arm-tan (unknowingly).
Turned up at what looked like no-mans hotel. Doors locked, light off and all. Obviously thought we'd been conned. Panic over, decent hotel - but anywhere would be decent with the rainstorm outside. There we met up with the 14 other people we'd be spending the next 32 days with. Aussies, Danes and a fair few Brits (let's say we cover all the Union Jack). Everyone seems cool and we're all excited.
Then, first full day of the group tour: epic white water rafting! Great start. Nice way to bond, lots of hard work though. We stayed in the boat by the way!! Then we headed to an organic farm for a wonderful Tico (local) lunch an a tour of the farm. Learnt about local foods and even how to make sugar from the canes. We even had some local moonshine...
A quick change and we head to the local hot springs (thanks to the beautiful volcano: Arenal). Gorgeous hot springs and a beautiful mud mask. Heavenly.
A few local bars and fiery shots in the evening...followed by a possible "pool party". So far so good.
The next day: we sleep. We eat. We sleep. We relax. It's a good day.
