The carnival is now over after an amazing but tiring week of partying, socializing and too much attention!!!!!!!!!
Don´t get us wrong, I mean, of course we love the attention but there is actually a middle thing between the Brazilian way of showing their love and the Norwegian way. Anyways, we enjoyed while it lasted, but don´t think we´ll miss it.
But back to the carnival: it was AWESOME! So much dancing and happy and colourful people everywhere, people who were just living life to the full, take the 17th of May and multiply it by 10 and you´re getting there.
We stayed in a small and more quiet part of Salvador called Pelourinho. But by quiet we mean people/bands parading through the streets untill 2 o´clock (and even by then it would be much quieter) instead of drunk guys dancing and seeing every tiniest argument as an opertunity to pick a fight. It wasn´t that bad but you get our point. I think we might have had the nicest room in the hostel with two balconies facing the street where all the parades took place everyday. The first 3 nights we even had the room to ourselves until the poshest 30 year old from London moved in. Oh what fun did we have.
We met so many cool people, and we cannot understand why the owner would barely say bye to us when we left. Even though we started the biggest argument about giving us the money back for the last night (we had to pay a package which included 7nights, we only stayed for 6 and according to us NOBODY else had to.) You can imagine the outcome: Of course we didn´t get the money back, the owner didn´t even speak English and we therefore had to put all the blame on the poor receptionist who was only trying to do his job. Not his fault he was the only one we could communicate with. You should know though we still blame him and still hate him (and the owner of course.) Besides this little incident the rooms were really nice, tasty breakfast, and we would, after all, strongly reccomend Hostel Solar dos Romanos, Pelourinho.
After 35hours on the bus, barely made the plane to Lima, Peru after we spent 2hrs changing a tyre, aircon broke down and we HAD to stop for food breaks every second hour. And for a change the plane actually decided to take off 30min BEFORE schedule! Isn´t it typical..
So now we´ve spent about half an hour in the supermarket, checking out the prices and all the intereesting food they got there. It´s way cooler than shopping for clothes! (Which is too expensive anywhere and we can´t afford it. Someone please send us new clothes!) But cookies on the other hand... You won`t recognize Kaja when she gets home:) Oh well, life is about living, right?!?
We´re off for some cookies and hopefully a good movie after spending about an hour (no kidding) figuring out the TV guide. It´s not logic at all!
Ciao for now
