Another chapter in our lives have now been closed. We´ve left Bali and have now arrived in Norway after 21 hours of travelling and a lot of time of thinking.
Bali was our "holiday" if you can call it that after just enjoying life with no worries for 5,5 months. Holiday for us though consisted of no cultural experiences whatsoever. To sum it up: we went scuba diving with our fresh certificate up Northeast at a shipwreck called USS Liberty. We went elephant riding in Ubud continued with four amazing hours of spa: body massage, scrub, pedicure and spa bath. You can´t have it better or more relaxed than that. To top it off; the bath was enjoyed in our extremely sexy, environmental friendly panties, looking over the elephant area (including 3 adorable baby elephants).
The holiday started off with a visit to the Gili Trawangan (the biggest of the three Gili Islands) where we met up with Annecken. We enjoyed two EXTREMELY relaxing days on the island that was thought to be the party island. Parties were only held Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and we happened to arrive on a Saturday morning. Too impatient as we were we decided to leave after only two days.
Later we met up with Aussie boys we´d met in Australia and the days went by with sunbathing smoothies at Boost, a visit to our best friend: the tourist information guy in the last booth on the main street, and going out at night. Whether it was fancy at SkyGarden or more relaxed and old school at Surfer. Bounty and Paddy´s were good options as well. When the World Cup started we became regulars at SkyGarden, every day at 10pm, and we became friends with other regulars:)
It´s sad to be sitting at home, listening to music that reminds us of places and people that is now officially the past. Sometimes we wonder if all of this actually happened when time has stood still back home when we´ve been away. But then we just look at the huge chunk of laundry which is now safe and sound in the washing machine where it belongs after 5,5 months in a backpack, which no one should stick their nose in. All the 4000-and-something pictures that have been taken bring back good memories as well.
We´ve had the time of our lives and reality couldn´t look less tempting. It´s strange to be apart after having been together 24/7 for so long and I´m sure a longer conversation is just around the corner. There will be so much nastiness coming out of our mouths after we´ve been brainwashed by surfers you won´t believe it. We will save you from the ugliness however and we will get it off our chests on a Skype date.
This has been another great adventure and we hope there are more to come. So long.
