I have wanted to update this blog, but we don't have Internet at our new apartment yet. We were living in a temporary place for about a week and that one had Internet, but it is slow to get maintenance-type things done in our new apartment.
In Moscow, most people live in small apartments which are rather expensive. We are paying the equivalent of about $1400 per month for a one bedroom apartment. Many things do not work right in our apartment! The one that needs to be fixed the most at the moment is the stove, which is not working at all. Other than broken appliances, our apartment is cute and we have two TV's as well as a balcony.
For work, this week I went to trainings and I taught one class to advanced teenagers. It was interesting that the class was two hours long without a break. That's a first for me! I had never taught for that long straight through. The lesson went alright, but I will have to think of more of my own ideas which seem like more fun than what is in the book provided.
One interesting thing I've noticed about Moscow is that most of the women here wear high heels every day. It can be nice footwear, but very strange to me! Also, they wear nylons here with all skirts or dresses, which I am not used to doing. I think they are very uncomfortable. I figure if Michelle Obama doesn't even wear them, why should I?
