Early morning wake up at the truck stop, and headed off to Tamworth (wasn't much in Gunnedah except a few koalas).
Passed heaps of red 'sorghum' fields which look like baby corn plants and a couple of white fluffy cotton fields (if you grade and clean cotton you are a 'Cotton Ginner').
Tamworth wasnt what we were expecting, is kind of old and dirty. We were expecting big, bold 'Home of country music' advertisements and a real country town look and feel (they dont even have Aldi!!).
Continued on 58km to Nundle (old mining town with cafes and antique shops) and managed to make it to the top of the huge mountain to a big Camping area with a large dam. Surrounded by bush, white gum trees and grassy areas, we are looking forward to having smoky wood fires, trout fishing and beers till pay day!
Highlight today: Scoring a qs Doona cover and two pillowcases for $5.25 at the lifeline shop in Tamworth.
