It's 4:30am and I'm too exicited to sleep so I thought I'd update this journal. On Friday I went to the national history museum. It was full of dinosaurs and brilliant, but there were some...weird exhibits. Look at my pictures to really understand. As I was leaving the museum I was taking pictures, not paying attention as I walked down the big set of stairs and bailed. Save it. I know I'm clutsy. So I twisted my ankle and hobbled over to Boots and got a tensor, wrapped it up and kept going.
Whenever I start talking to people they get very confused, look at me funny and then ask where I'm from. They can't place my accent in England, but not from another country either. Oh, just a heads up. If you ask people here (shopkeeper etc.) how there day is going...they will really tell you. I went into an old used bookshop and bought some books. The shopkeeper, told me how terrible his day was and how it was only going to get worse. That's not the first or last time that's happened.
I headed to the British Library, to see the Magna Carta and the orignal Shakespere writings as well as things like the Beatles hand written lyrics and letters from John Keynes. The Magna carta was ok, but I don't speak or understand latin. Then I went to Kings Cross, got a picture of platform 9 3/4 for you Kristy and then came home because I didn't feel well and my ankle hurt. I chilled out for the evening.
Saturday I went into London and met Alison. We went to the V & A, which was a really good museum. We had tea and scones there in the garden and then went shopping on Oxford street. Topshop was insane. 4 floors packed with people. By then I really was feeling like crap, so I headed home. I was going to go party in Windsor that night but I just slept. Which turned out to be a great idea, beause the next day I felt 100% and it was game day.
Nick and I headed out on our two hour journey to the stadium. Nick is not a Arsenal fan, actually hates them, but was cool enough to come along...even though he was hung to the t***. He also managed to get tickets to the last game of the season, which was near to impossible. But his friend works as a steward for Arsenal. Anyway, the game was really boring. Probally the worst I've seen them play in a year. They had nothing to play for and it looked like Everton just decided not to show up. Arsenal still managed to win. When people found out I was canadian, they kept apoligizing to me for coming over and seeing such a s*** game. Even though the game was crap, being in the stadium and listening to everyone cheering was amazing.
After the game Nick's friend, Claud, took us down to the pitch. Then he took us on a tour of the Emiratus Stadium. I got to go into the box seats which cost £100 000 for four years. We explored the stadium, ate something (and yes Matt you're right the British put everything in pies...including chicken curry, which was actually pretty yummy). We got to see areas that most supportors never see. All the hallways have pictures of major Arsenal moments and everything in the stadium is Arsenal colours.
Then we wondered around Highbury. People spend a fortune on houses around there, which makes no sense because people go nuts after the games and they riot, in your street. We went to the old stadium and then on our way back we ran into Emmanuel Eboue, who was in front of the tube station surrounded by people. Claud pushed people out of the way so we could get a photo. He's tiny in person. About 5ft 5". He looked terrified, but what else did he think would happen outside Arsenal tube station right after the game?
Then claud drove us across London, we got home, had roast dinner and watch Indiana Jones. Football Roast Dinner Action Movie=best day ever.
I'm off to Barcelona in a couple of hours and should probally try and get some sleep. I had such a good time in London I might shorten my trip in Hungary and come back here sooner. Especailly because there is a lego land in Windsor, and the FA cup final to watch...but we'll see.
