HAPPY NEW YEARS EVERYBODY!!!!
What a night we had... we met up with Phil and Vanya (from home) and got to Dawes Point, which was one of the vantage points to see the show at about 5pm... it was a bit confusing as to whether you were allowed to 'BYO' your alcohol of if it would be on sale.. so we brought along a few tinnies just to be on the safe side. As it turned out the security was not that strict and you could have brought whatever you wanted - there was a group of people with a huge eskie full of booze (lucky sods) Nevermind!! We cracked open a cold beer and started getting into the spirit...
I stupidly did not bring a jacket so was pretty nippy... I guess I figured I would be wearing my beer jacket later. Phil fantastically found a pub about 2minutes from our spot, so we decided to head there have some food and a few beers and then come back to catch the show!! Genius.
We couldn't belive how empty the pub was, they didn't chareg any admission and we were able to get a table..the night just got better. Needless to say we all embarked on a fair few vinos, sambucas..and whatever else!!! There was also a one man band busting out some funky tunes.
When it was time to go back for the show we scurried off with our remaining tinnies and braved the now huge crowd to get a good view!! One man decided to climb a tree so he could get the best view - crazy eh? The fireworks were awesome..they were coming from every angle and it was just unbelievable. The bridge was alight and everything.... I have taken a few piccies so hopefully you can get the gist.
After the fireworks we made our way back to the pub and carried on the celebrations.... even encountering some of the Barmy Army. The city was buzzing with people when we made our way to catch the bus back to coogee. All in all it was a brilliant New Year..... unfortunately though our heads still hurt the same as it always does whatever side of the world you are on. So there was only one thing for it..................more booze.
Cue Sun Beats at The Coogee Bay Hotel...............a day of dj's and dancing. Well not too much for us as we were all a little worse for wear. Check out the photos when you can.
Were off to 'The Moonlight cinema' tonight at Centennial Park, were off to see 'The Wizard of Oz' should be cool!!
Happy New Years again
