The islands- Part One!
Koh Samui
After a cheap but long journey from Singapore to Koh Samui I am so happy to be in the beach part of my travels. It took us 26 hours of non-stop travelling on buses and a ferry but a mere £30 so I can't complain!
We spent 3 nights on the island which is known to be quite touristy. On arrival we met a german girl called Kathrin and together we stayed in a lovely 3 bed room :). Our days were filled with sunbathing on Chaweng beach apart from sudden downpours which happened most days and after the first episode where we had to walk home drenched we learnt to sunbathe in front of a resort which had beach huts which we could hide in until it stopped! I'm so used to the atlantic with it's waves that I was quite surprised by the calmness of the water, it was warm and shallow for miles and lovely to swim in and at no point did I swirl around at the bottom as I'm used to doing when a wave buries you!
In the evening we ate good Thai food and partied at an R n B club we found called green mango. It was great to dance like crazy and shout lyrics until poor Nut nearly lost her voice!
On our final night we passed a tv and learnt of the terrible new s about Japan and later about the tsunami risk. We consulted a map of the world and found that although Asia was listed as at risk we were unlikely to be hit. That evening we also caught a free cabaret show with the most ladyboys I have ever seen, the show was highly entertaining along with the many photos we got with them. Some were so hard to tell that they were men! ! We decided we would all love to have bodies as good as theirs!
