A few days before departing Raetihi, Tina and I decided that our trip to Wellington that should take only a few hours will now take 6 days! To start off we're heading in the opposite direction!
Day 1: After a couple of beers with Mr. Masterman for his super old birthday I wasn't feeling fully hydrated for the road trip and the rain wasn't helping. Heading for Rotorua with a short stop off at Wai-O-Tapu. So Wai-O-Tapu in translation means 'sacred waters', it's a thermal wonderland, it's pretty impressive to be fair! By thermal wonderland i mean its like the Earth has its own underground central heating system! So the signs around the areas tell you the water is only a mere 100 degrees, but as you never believe the signs. I put my hand in it! It burnt! I didn't learn though as I carried on putting my hands into different water pools. The Champagne pool was my favourite, it was big, hot and steamy! It smelt full on gross. It smells like sulphur, which kinda has a similar smell to rotten eggs! Second favourite is the bright green pool- the devils bath! If I have time I will label the Facebook pics!
So imagine this, i'm soaked through, looking forward to the last leg of the drive to Rotorua and i'm hungry. I get to the car, press the brake, key in ignition and boom! Doesn't start! s***! It's raining outside and the battery drained, oh look! The lights had been left on for a few hours! But no worries dad! You taught me well, I obviously have a battery pack in the boot to
jump start the car- oh wait, no I didn't! So anyway, mr maintenance man from Wai-O-Tapu soon got us sorted and back on the road! So forgot to mention! I cooked dinner for 2! All by myself! I didn't have to ask Carol, or call Mama Trin, it was so good! I made noodles with mixed veg in a peanut satay! Yummy! Saying that though ever since I haven't had the chance to cook again as people just love making me food! Example, an Irish man at the hostel at Rotorua obviously sees straight through and offers me a Thai green curry and rice as soon as I enter the kitchen! He made heaps too much, I was over the moon. I wonder who'll be cooking my dinner tomorrow! Peace out xoxo
