Hey Guys
We've had an wicked time traveling down the west coast, stopping at some cool places one being Hokitika stayed at a really freindly campsite and met up with a cool guy traveling on his own from Manchester and hung around with him for the night. Just by the campsite was a glow worm cave (free attractions thats what we like) well nice and natural and plenty to see. Had a slight accident that nite and managed to cover the van in Hot Chocolate that includes sheets, pillows and sleeping bags everything was dripping, so had to pay for a laundry to get everything cleaned, was probably the worse nites sleep we've had. Went down the coast next day stunning beaches and the road is right by the sea so you see so much, ended up in a cheap campsite where we blagged there was only Jay in the Van with Nat hiding under the covers so we only had to pay for one of us. Times are hard hey, its been more expensive than we thought over here especially for food and don't even ask about Veg.
Visited Franz Josef Glacier on Wednesday walked to the face of it good 2 hour walk but well worth it, cool site standing there looking up. Then drove down to Fox Glacier went around the tiny town there and went for a walk around Lake Matherson one of the most photographed places in New Zealand it looks out to the Southern Alpes and Mount Cook, usually on a good day it reflectes in the water but typical for us it was a misty afternoon. Next morning was well nice and sunny Jay was up about 6am so excited about our heli hike, Went with a group of 20 others on a bus to the heli pad where we were kitted out with our sexy boots and socks never seen anything so bad before (as you will see in the pictures). Went up in groups of 6 in the helicopter was one of the best things so far about the trip, the pilot flys head first into the mountains then turns at the last minute loads of G Force, flew over some amazing things and landed us on the glacier. Hiked around for a good 4 hours but so worth it went though ice caves and seen so many different formations, our guide took us through an ice tunnel we had to ly on our frounts and slide down like a water shoot got covered in ice water doing this but was so cool. Overall the day was quality and Nat was looking good with her Panda eyes sun tan. (the photos we've got our amazing)
Were in Wanaka at the moment but the drive to get here was un-forgetable, we've stopped to see water falls, snow capped mountains and beautiful blue lakes all around us and stopped down an amazing spot for our lunch after doing a bit of 4x4 to get there. Met up with a really nice couple heading same way as us so we travelled a bit together and spent last nite having a few drinks in there hired camper (a bit of a change from our small van).
Check out the photos and leave some Christmas Msgs hope everyone is in the Festive Spirit back home ho ho ho ....... Speak to you's soon
