Touched down at 10:20am to a much warmer Gatwick than expected. It's always a rough night traveling this way. Esme faired the best and got in a few solid hours of sleep. We picked up our luggage, got the train to Victoria (a nice man gave up his seat at a table for 4), bought our Oyster cards and took the Tube to Earl's Court. The kids were troopers with so little sleep. After a couple minutes walk from the Tube station we checked into Premier Inn Knightsbridge. Very friendly staff. The room is clean, with comfy beds but small. I wish we had a chest of drawers. It's nice to have a window that opens though.
We changed into shorts and skirts and headed back to Earl's Court Rd. for a quick sandwich lunch at Gregg's. Nice and fresh. John enjoyed the yum yums - long, twisted sticky bun thingies.
As John and Esme were pooped they headed back to the hotel for a nap around 3pm. Spencer and I walked up to Kensington High St. to find a data microSIMM for the iPad. We succeeded at 3 network - £20 for 3gigs for 3mos - the only plan we could sign up for without a non-UK address.
Spencer's opinion of London, so far From a 12 yr old point of view he felt as if Kensington was a pocket Toronto he had not discovered. Wait until he discovers the vastness of London!
We jumped on the 328 double decker and got back to Earl's Court in an instant. Discovered a Tardis out front of the Tube station - just a police box really.
Spencer and I crashed when we got back to the hotel at 4pm. E & J were still asleep. We ended up eating at the hotel in a zombie like state. Back to the room for an early night.
