Lapland, inside the arctic circle. Inari, the capital of Lapland. Sami, native nomadic people. This is one place on earth that I never expected to find myself. So far its kind of normal... the midnight sun is finished and the Aurora Borealis isnt visiting yet. Its just normal days and normal nights. Cold nd not so cold.
The Inari lake is one of the biggest in Finland about 3308 km of coast line, and only 10 more islands, 3318 dotted all over. 1000 km of water, its like the sea with taxi planes and island cruises.
Here I find myself helping out for one week rather than passing through in one hour, as was the plan. Ive learnt to make little owls from the Sami craft culture and two days ago I was sitting outside in the warm sun leaing how to weave a poli with a Parisian. A poli is somthing to do with the Sami dressage, which like most native costumes, is very colourful and accessorised. We became the main tourist attraction for about 2 hours that day, photos, interviews and studies.
Last night was a cultural festival which I and some frieds planned to ttend until we learned that the price to enter was 25 euros and for this you got nothing muchmore than a bad perishing - 4 degrees at night time already. So to the hotel instead, which was already filled with drunk men puching each other in slow motion. A good night in all, nice and warm. And on Tuesday I head to norway...
