Its so difficult to know where to start and what to include. Life is like a soap opera at Camp Saginaw, so much happens but most of it is just bulls***. But I have some free time so I will try and write as much of that bulls*** as possible.
Got a package at the beginning of the week, definitly one of the highlights. It was from mum. It was an interesting package and included some souvenoirs from the Bradman Museum to give away (but no one here knows who he is). Some league magazines which were a good read... Killed some time, but were mainly about the origin loss a few weeks ago. And some local newspaper clippings. Any contact from home always makes my day.
The days have been pretty normal, just teaching and lifeguarding but the nights have gotten a whole lot more interesting. Monday and Tuesday I went to the local pub for a few beers thats always fun. Then Wednesday I hung out with Sara again, went to her place cus there is nothing to do in Oxford. That was cool I met her family (very typical american family - her dad is a teaching so it was interesting to learn about teaching over here).
Then Wednesday night after curfew Me Jaymes Stner Jo and ChrisP were hanging out. A gator (like a golf cart) came by and we all split. Somehow we lost Stoner and Jo. So the rest of us decided to go on a covert ninja mission to try and find them. We got dressed in black got some walkie talkies and faced our first problem before leaving boys camp. Chrisp had left his bunk door open and a skunk was looking as if it were going to walk right in. I went on a suicide mission to shut the door I was lucky to get out alive. The we searched the entire camp looking for them and found nothing. There were a few close calls with some automatic lights. At around 130 we decided to give up when we were spotted by some security guards. Jaymes was already in bed, but me and chrisp made a dash for it we got into Chrisps bunk but the security were right behind us, Not sure how we lost them but it was a close call. And certainly the highlight of the night. We're now determined to see how close we can get to gators and security without getting caught. If you're wondering who was watching my kids... who knows.
Speaking of my kids I have a whole new bunk and a new counsellor. The kids are all younger than my old bunk. They are soo boring. My last bunk were smart arses andpushed the boundries these kids just bicker with each other and play DS. There is no personality in there. My co-counsellor is cool Schrem, he has been here before but only arrived on Sunday for this session. He shares my enjoyment in being out past curfew and its often interesting to see who comes home later. He is winning. We've had a few big storms this week... which is fun cus one of my kids is scared of storms, its funny.
Last night I went to the movies with Sara and a bunch of other counsellors, we saw batman... OMG so good! Heath Ledger was brilliant and Im hoping he wins an oscar for it.
Breaking news, I just found out that one of the counsellors in my division got fired last night. Apparently he left a note on the division leaders desk before he took his off days with some anti-jew messages and how he hated the kids or something. Then when he got back from his off days they fired him. That really sucks cus he was one of my favourite people here, he was our boot camp leader and softball coach. Going to miss him the next few weeks, but its all good there is no doubt we will catch up with him when we are in Indiana.
Some tension for the big IJ-Hill softball game is already starting to build. They send scouts to all our training sessions to realise how good we are... And they frequently sing songs about how they are the best. There hasn't been a rivalry this big since the EDU - MED rivalry of 2007. It looks like I will be starting on the team at 2nd base. Im pretty pumped about that its a huge honour.
As you can see from all the junk I have written life over here is just a load of s***... There is lots more drama but not enough time to document it all. Overall having a great time. Will write back to ppl soon.
