Arrived in London at Heathrow Airport Terminal 5. A nice new terminal. We caught the Heathrow Express to Paddington Station and then a cab from Paddington to Euston station. Kirsten amazed with the London Cab as she had never been in one. The cabbie was a friendly East Ender that asked where we were off to. When we told him Liverpool he asked why would we bother. The cheek! He backed off when I told him I was born in Liverpool and were off to visit family.
We had a 2 hour wait in the Virgin lounge before boarding our train. Despite having a first class ticket we were warned that food service is limited on the weekend so we popped in to Marks and Spencer's food store in Euston station. We bought a mix of salads for the journey. On a blistering hot day in London everyone looked like they were melting. To stay cool people were lying on the station floor in front of the indicator boards. 7.05pm arrived and we were on our way to Liverpool. Amongst Liverpuddlians heading home from a weekend in London. Laughing at two ladies who gossiped (or slandered!) their family and close friends in a broad scouse accent all the way to Liverpool . We felt we were part of a soapie. The train was only 4 minutes late. Uncle Ray was there to meet us and take us to Ormskirk.
