Record temperatures still hitting north west England. We decided to hang around home and stay indoors until we were heading off to visit Uncle Les. We stopped at West Kirby on the way to walk along the waterfront. It was packed with everyone trying to cool off. It was the last day of the school year and kids were cooling off by jumping into the water school uniforms and all.
Uncle Les decided it is now time we call him Les since we are over 50 and there is only 8 years between us. He took us with his family, Kathy, John and Emily (both named after Grandma and Grandad) to the oldest pub in the Wirral. It has a thatched roof and was quaint inside. A good way to catch up after 21 years. Last time we had seen Les was at his wedding.
On the way back to Uncle Ray's Les organised for us to call in for a brief visit to Aunty Hilda, Grandma's sister. She was delighted to see us and remembered who we all were. She still has her sense of humour. I got into trouble for telling her to eat up her sandwich - she said she was disappointed I was losing my use of proper language and would eat her butty. It was lovely to see her looking well.
Uncle Ray and Aunty Gill had organised a seafood feast and salad for dinner. We are being fed extremely well - lucky we are doing a lot of walking
